Gear
The name of the game in The Matrix Iterations is survival, and having the right gear will help you. You must keep track of all items you are carrying; if you don't have it written down, you don't have it with you.
Your loadout for gear is determined when you start a mission, as your loadout is… Clothes and gear used to carry other gear does not count toward your encumbrance and does not need to be noted.
Encumbrance
You can unhindered carry a number of regular items up to your carry limit; this is equal to double your Strength attribute.
If you have a backpack, you can use it to carry an additional number of regular items equal to your carry limit. However, carrying a backpack causes you to suffer a -2 modifier on all Mobility skill rolls. The backpack itself does not affect your encumbrance.
Items with negligible weight, that can be hidden in a closed fist, are called tiny. They are so small they don't affect your encumbrance at all. Tiny items still need to be listed on your character sheet.
You can have up to three hand-held weapons at hand, which means they are kept in a sheath or holster, or otherwise readily available for use in combat. Weapons kept at hand do not count toward your encumbrance.
Consumables
Resources are scarcely available in the Matrix, as a hack into the system can only push so much irregular code before the system recognizes something amiss. The rest of the time, characters will have to fend for themselves when it comes to goods like ammo, armor, and tools.
For each consumable, you have a supply rating; the higher, the better. For encumbrance, each consumable counts as one regular item regardless of the supply rating. At regular intervals, depending on the consumable in question, you will need to make a supply roll. This means rolling a number of dice equal to the current supply rating, to a maximum of 6d6. For each bane (one) rolled, reduce your supply rating by one. When the supply rating reaches zero, you have exhausted your supply.
If you want to give a consumable to another person, simply increase the recipient's supply rating for as many steps as you decrease your own.
